EquaGel General Cushion

The EquaGel General Cushion is a patented polymer gel cushion with sculpted pelvic contour. This is a highly effective medical grade seat cushion that is 2 inches high and does not lose its shape, softness, or support.

Equagel cushions have two layers: the top has a grid of softer, smaller 1cm cells, and the bottom layer has a grid of firmer, larger 2.5cm cells. The cushion effectively redistributes pressure through its column buckling effect. When pressure is applied to a column from the top, it collapses, allowing the weight to be shared across adjacent columns, and allowing the user to sink into the cushion. The elastic quality of the gel is always wanting to help the columns reform to their proper shape, which provides an upwards force, preventing bottoming out.

The EquaGel General Cushion has been molded to include a depression for the sacrum and ischial tuberosities. The two layers thin at the back to create a well that assists with redistributing pressure from high-risk areas to the thighs and greater trochanters. This design also assists with positioning and maintaining posture, preventing the user from sliding forward. The General Cushion height is 2.0 inches, and the rear well height is 3/4 inch.

The cover has been thoughtfully designed. The outer fabric is soft and stretchy, fluid-resistant, breathable, and flame resistant. On the left side is a label to assist users in correctly positioning the cushion. The cover is zippered and has a carry handle on the back, and Velcro on the base to keep it in place. The cover is fully washable black fabric.
