Designed with safety and convenience in mind, the medication dispenser features a secured, tamper-proof, locking key system to avoid over-medication. With 28 medication compartments, users can easily keep track of medication taken up to 4 times daily. The unit is easy to set up and works as promised. The only things that I have issues with are as follows. The piezo alarm is marginal at best. I'm 60 and I have a hard time hearing it. My mother is 85 and she can't hear it from across the room. If my mother isn't in the room and misses seeing the units LED alarm, it stops flashing after a while and it is highly likely that she will miss her pills. If the manufacturer would put an 85db piezo alarm in the unit and change the duration of the LED to remain on until the pills are dispersed the unit would be excellent. As it stands I may be looking for a new unit soon.

I am not really happy with this item at this time. I followed the directions on setting the timer for once daily meds for my Mother. I cannot get it to rotate once a day. The pill compartments rotate more than once and the incorrect days dosage is dispensed. I have taken the batteries out of it two different times without incurring the same problem. It is almost more trouble than it is worth for it to cost what it did.

I am very happy with this pill dispenser. It keeps my mom of the right schedule. It is easy for all of us to use. My mom is smart....sometimes, she turns it over and leaves it that way - so she doesn't have to hear the alarm..... That is the only thing I would change - having the alarm go off weather it is right side up or not. This product, gives me great peace of mind that my mom is receiving the right things at the right time, whether I can be with her that day or not.

Q: When the alarm sounds and unit opens, does it only allow the dosage in that slot to be dispensed or does the lid open and they have access to all meds and have to just take out what is for that time slot?

A: The unit does not open when the alarm sounds, it merely rotates to the appointed slot so no, the user would not have access to all meds.

A: Yes, the Med-E-Lert can be used for medication taken up to 4 times daily.

Q: I have one but can't find the instructions. A problem arose when I tried to reset the time for Daylight Savings and apparently got it messed up. Is there a way to receive these instructions via internet?

Q: do u accept insurance of any kind ? and whats the maximum amount of pills allowed per area?

A: We do not take insurance directly, however you can be reimbursed by your insurance company for a lot of the products that we carry. Please check with your insurance provider for reimbursement details. Each pill compartment can hold up to 18 aspirin size pills.

Q: How long will the alarm sound until it stops by itself? I understand you have to tip the device to turn off the alarm, but what about when you are not there. Is it possible to take the pills before the scheduled alarm due to a change in the schedule for that day, can you manually rotate the dispenser, will the alarm still go off at the set time?

A: It is possible to take the pills out before scheduled alarm. The sliding door on the top for that day does not lock. Instructions state to NOT manually turn the dispenser because it can cause damage to the gears but even if the pills are taken out early the alarm should go off at it's regular scheduled time and rotate to the next scheduled dose. The alarm will eventually turn itself off but the manual does not specify in what time frame.
