Right Angled Scoop Spoon

The Right Angle Scoop Spoon is an adapted eating aid with a fixed angled spoon and built up handle. By using a simple elbow motion, minimizing the movements of the shoulder and forearm, the user can scoop food onto the flat bottom spoon.

The Right Angle Scoop Spoon is designed with the back of the spoon raised to prevent food from spilling off the spoon. The larger handle is beneficial for people who have difficulty grasping due to weak hands or limited finger dexterity. The handle measures 4.5 inches long and has a 1 inch diameter, making it a comfortable size to grip. The three outer rings may be slid to a comfortable position for the user. This built up handle spoon is a right hand spoon. This light weight adapted spoon measures 7 inches long, 2 inches wide overall. The patented design was developed in cooperation with the Knapp Rehabilitation Center, Cynthia Johnson, OTR; and John Casiday. Right Angled Scoop Spoon enhances independent eating for people who have limited or painful movement of their upper extremities.
