The Breather 2 Respiratory Strength Trainer is a hand held device designed to strengthen the muscles of inspiration and expiration. This portable, easy to use breathing strengthening aid is beneficial for anyone interested in developing power and endurance of their breathing muscles.

The Breather 2 applies the principle of resistance to the intake of air and to the release of air against resistance, which is essentially the same principle used as in weight training. Prolonged illness, aging, and neuromuscular diseases cause respiratory muscles, just like other muscles, to become weak. For clients with inspiratory muscle weakness, adding inspiratory muscle training to a general exercise training program tends to improve exercise performance. Strengthening the diaphragm and the accessory muscles of breathing improves endurance. Strength of the expiratory muscles increases breath support for singing, speaking, and coughing.

Home-based exercise, like The Breather, can be used independently by clients with voice changes from neuromuscular disease such as Parkinson's Disease, MS, PSP, Post Polio, or even for users with voice weakness from age related changes to breathing and voice. The Breather can be cleaned with warm soapy water, and is dishwasher safe (top rack only).
